Hi everyone I have this photo of my Grandparents Samuel and Louisa Sanders.
Its a thought provoking and very poignant photo of a time in our history which has been much in the news and on TV right now here in the UK. Over at
Another Freaking Scrapping Challenge they're asking for stories from the past, present or future so I'm linking it up.
1914 had started very well for them with a new baby in the family, Granddad earning good money in one of the many engineering businesses starting up in Birmingham and a home above the little general stores shop Grandma managed during the day. They were very happy and enjoying their two little girls, my Aunty Lucy age 3 and baby Lily age 1.
Then war broke out and Granddad joined the Army, as a private in the Royal Artillery. The photo, taken at the photographer's studio in the Autumn; shows Grandma and the girls dressed in their Sunday best with Granddad looking very handsome in his uniform. I can imagine my Nan was both proud of Granddad but worried about the war and if she would see her man ever again. The children just look bemused at all the excitement, and I'm sure my Granddad was thinking it would all be over by Christmas.
I used the Kaiserkraft papers from the Bee-u-tiful range again. Just love these papers.
I made a flower from TH Tattered roses die and the title and numbers from the new Stampin Up die set.
Thank you for looking and any comments you leave.
Hope your day is happy.
