My DAD - Lest We Forget

It is 30 yrs today since my Dad died so I thought I'd show this LO today, from my Family album, in Remembrance of him. He was lucky enough to survive the war and died age 66 from lung cancer. I miss him still so much. The photo here was taken in front of the Basilica in Rome; the postcard, with the same view, was one he sent to Mom after he'd pasted some lampooned pics from the Italian newspaper onto it. The elephant, made from black card, signifies the felt elephant he made for me while he was in hospital in Italy recovering from Dysentery.

I used some Basic Grey October Afternoon paper, and made all the little poppies from a punch. The medal was a copy of Dad's medal made from dyed ribbon and black card. Hidden journalling is behind the Memories to Share tag on the right.

In the Frame- Front cover!

Before I put away the papers I'd used for the latest CCG Challenge I decided to make a Front page for the Scrapbook I'm doing for my brother. It's not quite finished, I need to put name and dates etc but thought I'd show it before I do that. Thank you for looking and for your lovely comments!

New Christmas Edgy Album slideshow added!

I've just added a new slideshow of an album I made last year of all my favourite Christmas Cards which I was saving. It put them all together and reminds me of traditions from my childhood. Took ages to do, now I need a rest and a cuppa!!!!

I loved doing this LO. I used recycled brown paper, which came in my latest scrapping packaging, scrunched it up then smoothed it out and used a paint pot tester on bubble wrap for some of the patterning, then added more with a lace doily stencilled onto the paper too. This gave the effect of a simple heart shape with scalloped edges so I cut the shape out and then cut a plain coffee coloured paper out to echo the scalloped shape, finally mounting both onto a plain dusty pink paper. The ribbons are all scraplings from my sewing box stash, as did the button and sequin strips.
The LO is about an old photo of hubbie's uncle, also called Len on his wedding day to Rose?? I don't know her surname, in 1918. One of those experiments that was successful and I enjoyed. Thank you for looking.
