Over at AFSC the challenge for April is to scrap about a past/present or future challenge of your own. As every day is a challenge these days, I decided to scrap about the first time I really challenged how I felt about myself. After bringing up my family, I went back to University and studied hard for 5 years part-time while I worked full-time too. I did it and in 1994 got my certificate in Business Studies. This photo was taken at my Cap n' gown ceremony.
What you can't see is that I'd been so nervous I'd been nipping to the loo every 2 mins beforehand and nearly missed my walk up the stairs to the plattform. After the presentation we had to wait around for our photos to be taken and then the gowns were handed back. Imagine my embarrassment to find my skirt, under my gown, had been tucked into my underclothes for the whole ceremony!!! As I removed my gown there I was, revealed to the whole room!!! One of those never to be forgotten embarrassing moments.
I tucked my journal tag under my photo.
I used the April sketch from Scrapfriends, really like the design.
It didn't turn out at all as I planned but it's still recognisable I think. I used one of TH's b/g distress papers and cut the large circles from another. The frame is also from Tim Holz and has a lovely label on the back, it's a shame it's hidden. The Oh happy days stamp is from Stampin' Up, the other word stamps from The Artist Set at Creative Expressions..
I stencilled the title onto the page and coloured it with a silver stamp pad. I saw this idea on Helen's blog and really think it fits in on the page.
Once again thank you for visiting and leaving me your comments. I really do appreciate them.
Lovely page, und you looked good with your cap and gown - even if your clothes underneath were no quite right! Hugs, Valerie
