Cards for Lets Get Trendy-now 3.and Tone Lill's Challenges.

Hi Everyone it's a lovely sunny day in my neck of the woods and it makes me happy to hear the birds singing outside.  My heating is ON folks just when I don't need it. lol  It's lovely to have the hot water again too.  Think we all need a spot of going without sometimes so we appreciate what we do have!

I had another day crafting while the men were working, not naked in pinnies I hasten to add and came up with some more cards.  At  Do More With Less- Yvonnes guest designer Tone-Lill has a challenge and tutorial to use something from your kitchen cupboard - aluminium foil!  I tried it and put it through my die cut but it was too thin. For my second attempt I backed the foil with double sided sheets and it went through a treat!  I also distressed it a bit for the antiquey look and here's what I made.

Using sizzlit dies.  I also cut a couple of birdcages like the one on my card below which I backed with paper and cut the middle two sections out so you can peek through. The papers are oddments and stamps from Indigo Blue and the Craft Stamper freebie again. I added some tied muslin which I'd coloured with distress ink.
 And close-up.

Last but not least another card using torn papers with the sentiment from the Craft Stamper freebie. I'm entering this one for the layers challenge at Let's Get Trendy3. Butterflies are stamped from my Simply Gorjuss stamp set and fussy cut. I've really enjoyed seeing all the tutorials and inspiration the DT have done and a big thank you from me for all your hard work.

Thanks again for looking and all your sweet comments.

  2. That birdcage turned out great--so shiny from the foil!

Thanks for your comment on my blog. I am glad to know that I am not the only person concerned about palm oil plantations destroying habitats. My family stopped eating foods with palm oil when we found out, but it's hard, because it is in so many foods. I think that few Americans know about this issue.

I think you would really like Summer of Color. If you get a chance to, have fun playing along!

  4. Love your aluminium foil cut outs, and yes like you I found out that it rips easily, so it's a great idea that you backed it with a double sided sheet. Both Your finished cards looks amazing and I love the aluminium foil bird cage. Thank you for playing along with the Aluminium foil challenge over at Yvonns's blog Do More WithLess x
